Stone Care
Choosing natural stone is an investment and in order to protect your investment simple steps can be taken to ensure your stone will continue to look good in years to come.
The best way to prevent stains on stone is to treat it with a protective sealer. Different stone types require different grades of sealer depending on the context of your stone application and how you want your stone to appear.
Once your stone is sealed then clean up is a snap, however natural stone demands a cleaner specifically suited to the unique mineral composition of the stone. General cleaners not formulated for natural stone can break down the sealer, making the stone susceptible to stains. Even worse, many cleaning products that contain abrasives, lemon, vinegar, bleach or ammonia can etch away the polish, discolour the surface or even scratch your stone. Rural Stone recommends DuPont™ StoneTech Professional® Cleaners to clean your stone.
