Optus Stadium – Toodyay Stone

Rural Stone WA were honoured to be involved in the Optus Stadium project. Our Toodyay Stone and Donnybrook Sandstone were selected to showcase the symbolic design done by world renowned artist Chris Drury. Cornish stone walls were built in a flowing fashing ending in dramatic fashion with the Donnybrook Sandstone whirlpools. Our Toodyay Stone was the closest material the guys could find locally to replicate the field stone found in Cornwall UK. No mortar, concrete or steel was used in the construction.

The stone construction technique, soil and planting bind the material, we were amazed at the work completed by the team and learnt alot along the way. This iconic structure is a testament to the versatility of our unique West Australian natural stone.
